The purpose of the AARST Foundation is to conduct educational, scientific, and charitable activities relating to radon science and radon risk reduction for the benefit of the public at large and other stakeholders.
Fulfilling the need for quality research and progress on environmental justice is critical to the success of risk reduction as well as the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and the radon industry.
Research: It is imperative that industry-worthy research be completed. The AARST Foundation’s leadership is needed to support and advance a research agenda providing the evidence base for radon risk reduction. Building knowledge and facilitating learning by understanding issues and increasing public awareness will help the credibility of the industry, disprove myths, and support truths.
Environmental Justice: The need for fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies will be the subject of focused outreach for the AARST Foundation.
The AARST Foundation is organized exclusively for educational, scientific, charitable and literary purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The AARST Foundation’s board is composed of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including business, academic, public health, and non-for-profit, and, per the Foundation’s bylaws, the President and Treasurer of AARST and one individual appointed by the AARST Board of Directors.
The AARST Foundation works with but is independent of The American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST), which is a nonprofit, 501(c)(6) professional organization of members who are dedicated to the highest standard of excellence and ethical performance of radon measurement, radon mitigation and transfer of radon information for the benefit of members, consumers and the public at large.
